Mercedes Benz 220S Ponton Cabriolet (W180) (1959)
The 220S debuted at Frankfurt in 1956 as the top of a new line of cars. It used the company's envelope-style “ponton” body and shared a strong family resemblance to the sporty 190SL and legendary 300SL. Unlike those specialty two-seaters, the 220 S was hand-built to carry passengers in luxury on a daily basis. The rare cabriolet body style is one of 2,178 produced in total from 1956-59. This immaculate Mercedes 220S Cabriolet, finished in magnificent yellow with a classic red interior and a burgundy canvas roof to match with. Since being imported from the UK eight years ago, the car was sent to be immediately restored to a very high standard. Now it is cosmetically and mechanically perfect! It is now very well kept and maintained, and hardly been driven since completion and is in pristine condition!
