Porsche 911 GT3 (996) (2000)

Porsche 911 GT3 (996) (2000)

An iconic modern classic from Porsche history. Introducing the first Porsche that bore the legendary “GT3” badge was in 1999 as part of the 996 model range. The term “race car for the road” gets used and abused a lot, however the brilliant engineers at Porsche specifically developed the 996 GT3 road car that focused on racing and named it after the FIA GT3 Class, for which it was designed to race in.

It used the race car formula of reduce weight and add power. The 996 was already a lightweight car, and with extra weight removed, such as rear seats, rear speakers, sunroof, radio and air conditioner. Although this particular car was specced with air conditioner and a radio, to make it more livable. With almost no sound deadening in the car in a further attempt to lose weight, you can hear the famous Porsche Mezger engine designed by Hans Mezger. The 3.6L flat six boxer engine developed 360 hp. Weighing in only at 1,350kg, the GT3 is capable of reaching top speed of 302 kilometers per hour and a zero to 100 time of only 4.8 seconds!

This specific car is a 2000 model and has done only 45,000kms from new with a full service history from Porsche South Africa. This car has been fastidiously maintained, and documented! Finished in a desirable Arctic Silver Metallic, with all Black leather interior it is without a mark, absolutely pristine!
